Sewing Table

Sewing tables come in different sizes, styles, materials and price points. Some are portable while others are meant to stay in place. Some tables have drop-in areas that require an acrylic insert making the machine flush with the surface of the table.

The above photo is a Gidget portable sewing table made by Arrow sewing cabinets. After nearly 15 years of using an IKEA drafting table I took the plunge made and made the switch to the Gidget, it’s been on my wishlist for the past 3 and a half years. I wanted something that was portable to take to classes and sewing retreats but also able to use in my sewing room on a regular basis.

Below is my faithful IKEA drafting table (it’ll be going up on Facebook Marketplace soon). Now I’ve mentioned acrylic inserts to make your sewing machine flush with your drop in cabinet, but I’ll have you know that you can have extension tables made for when you use your sewing machine on a tabletop. They’re available from Sew Steady- I highly recommend check them out.
