Two Creative Minds at work
Have you ever heard the phrase “Necessity is the mother of invention”?? It’s incredibly empowering.
We made this a few years ago and it’s worth sharing again.
Everything we do here in out home is a beautiful blend of two creative minds working together in perfect harmony. It’s when an engineer and an extremely crafty woman join forces that they can achieve truly magical results.
I’d wanted an extension table for my serger and here’s how it worked played out…
When I had purchased my Janome sewing machine, it came with an extension table. I had purchased a custom acrylic insert for my Horn of America sewing table so my new machine could be flush with the surface making this extra piece redundant. I stored it in the closet and forgot about it.
After purchasing a new serger, I priced out how much an acrylic extension table would cost and I was on the fence about spending the money. Then I thought if we could change up the insert I already have to work with the serger then I’d get what I wanted without having to worry about the extra costs and I could breathe new life into what I had giving it new purpose.
I’m deeply passionate about upcycling and recycling and giving old things a new lease on life, and this serger extension table is our little masterpiece.
With a copping saw and precise measurements, we were able to repurpose it into an extension table for my Babylock Victory serger. And those little spools I’ve been saving got a new life too! They proved to be the perfect solution to our height problem, and it’s amazing how sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference. Total cost $9.00 for the copping saw – a small price to pay for the satisfaction of creating something truly unique. 🥰
Money saved $120.00 and we have a tool to that we’ve used on many other projects.
