Let’s talk kitchen workspace
This house has helped to shape and change how we do things. It’s made us better organized, more creative and more productive.
There were things I wanted to change while we were living in our last house that I couldn’t seem to be able get my family onboard with. Sounds silly right? Simple things like putting the blender, toaster or electric can opener away when you’re done with it. Does any of it really need to be on the countertop 24/7? While I love my stand mixer, I certainly don’t want it on my countertop all of the time, same goes for the air fryer, the rice cooker, the instant pot and my crockpot. But the storage places for those things were rather limited. It was either store your food or your appliances. That’s when I had my husband convert one of the coat closets into an appliance pantry. It wasn’t in the kitchen but rather around the corner from it and it worked for me.
It’s 2025 and these are the 2 appliances that get to hang out all day long on our kitchen countertop along with the Echo Show device. That’s it. I’ve turned minimalist, it’s a more practical way of doing things, or at least it is for me.
While our current kitchen it is smaller than what we had in our previous home, we definitely have more open countertop area in which to work. What makes it all possible is definitely that walk in pantry.
Next I’ll talk about the pantry.
